Podiatric Surgery covers the whole depth and breadth of all aspects of foot care, from conservative treatments for corns, verrucae, in-growing toe nails, fungal infections etc to a full range of corrective Podiatric Surgery procedures, such as:

  • Bunion (hallux valgus) corrections
  • Hammer toes
  • Morton?s Neuroma
  • Arthritic joint replacements
  • Permanent cure of in-growing toe nails
  • Tendon transfers and lengthening
  • Removal of lumps and bumps

These can be under Local or General Anaesthesia.

This is backed up with a full range of conservative management post operatively where necessary.

Podiatric Surgeons

Podiatric Surgical Training

Podiatric Surgeons are not registered medical practitioners/doctors. Instead they are highly trained (AHP) Allied Health Professional Specialists in Podiatric medicine and surgery. (Similar to Dental and Oral surgeons and teeth)

The pathway to becoming a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon is a long one.

Initially a 3 year pre-graduate University training to gain an honours degree in Podiatry is required.

They then embark on the career pathway of postgraduate training and examinations lasting about 5 years to reach the award of Fellowship- FCPodS- of the Faculty Podiatric Surgery, College of Podiatrists UK.

A further 3 years in practice under a Consultant is then required attain the Certificate of Completion of Podiatric Surgical Training (CCPST) to then be eligible to find a Consultancy post =11 Years in total.

They are registered as Podiatrists under the Governmental Regulatory body the Health Professions Council UK (HPC.)
